The white bar, a blank canvas for material experimentation

An immersive design study exploring the transformative power of surfaces, where a single architectural layout is reimagined through four distinct material expressions.

TheConcept:Formvs.Surface

On the occasion of Milan Design Week, Cleaf partnered with AUDO to present an experimental experience; this project serves as a profound design study, emphasizing how surfaces alone can define furniture and interior architecture without altering core structural shapes.

The bar typology was specifically selected as a playground for material experimentation. A total white bar acts as a blank canvas—a pristine palette to be filled with textures and colors—before branching into four identical layouts, each telling a unique hospitality story through specialized material effects.

TheFourMaterialEnvironments

Morning Bar | The Fabric Effect: Designed as a soft sanctuary to begin the day, this environment utilizes fabric-effect surfaces to enhance a tactile sense of comfort, warmth, and immediate well-being.

Lunch Bar | The Stone Effect: Tailored for the mid-day urban break, this iteration adopts stone-effect products, imbuing the uniform layout with a raw, architectural weight and a sleek, contemporary urban identity.

Aperitivo Bar | The Wood Effect: Crafted to evoke relaxation and socialization before the evening sets in, this bar is wrapped in wood-effect textures, instantly establishing a familiar, grounding, and family-like atmosphere.

Disco Bar | The Metal Effect: A high-energy space designed to move to the rhythm of music. This final environment utilizes metal-effect surfaces to capture light and reflections, offering a bold, industrial, and hyper-contemporary feel.
